Away from the shore....

Greece
Aegean Sea
Cyklades
Serifos island

It really seems strange to talk about...running away from the shores in a island!.. Yet. that was a must for the locals, through the ages, to avoid hostile attacks especially from pirates. This is why. the "Choras"( the capitals) are usually located on the highest point of the rocky land.
In the photo, the Chora in Serifos island, among the most picturesques. In this photo, one can also see the characteristic "pezoules" ie, the way the locals try to exploit every bit of the rocky and volcanic land in order to grow the bare vegetables.

An excellent sample of aesthetism with essential bits of history and national beauty...and plenty of nostalgia and pride! Well done Alexander...

That's why only the harbours are on the coast. Your shot is really fantastic.

An excellent shot and explanation here alexander. I would imagine that building high and away from the shore alo aved them from flooding when the weather was wild.

An image that excites me ... This is undoubtedly Alexander, their characteristic way of doing.
The compressed material enhances a pictorial quality in which reality vanishes in favor of the abstract category. The subject, being important, it's just an excuse for a strong"tableau" . Congratulations !
